Wade Redden is the latest Ranger to sustain an injury. After being crushed by Florida Panthers Victor Oreskovich in the first period in Wednesday nights game just 4:50 in he'll be out for 5-7 days. Redden's injury was to the right arm shoulder area.
So far this season Rangers had injury's to Marian Gaborik sore hip (2 games), Chris Dury with a concussion (5 games), Ales Kotalik shoulder soreness (1 game), Brandon Dubinsky (Broken wrist) should return in mid December, and after Lundquist was being run every game in the first month he felt the pains but didn't miss any contests as he was dressed when Steve Valiquette got the nod. In total the Rangers have lost 29 manpower games due to illness or injury this season.
Rangers call on Bobby Sanguinetti from Hartford to take place of the injured Redden. Sanguinetti will make his debut tonight in Tampa and the Rangers defense will be full of rookie D men in the line up along with Gilroy and Del Zotto who already have proved they can hang. Sanguinetti lead all AHL defensemen with 22 points six goals and 16 assists before the call.
Torts will have a tuff decision to make tonight weather he will directly put Sanguinetti in the line up with Redden's line mate which is Gilroy that would make for an all rookie pairing or will he shake up the lines. Rangers D men have been nothing put horses this season logging up minutes. When Gilroy went out of last game for fighting and getting the instigator major the Rangers were forced to go with only four defensemen the final 14:20 of play.
Rangers two game win streak will be tested tonight but will be a big game at hand. The Rangers stand at seventh in the Eastern Conference over all with a 13-10-1 record (27 points). Tampa Bay stand at 10th in the Conference with a 9-6-7 (25 points). Even though the point margin is only two with a win in Tampa the Rangers can give themselves a small cushion for the teams looking to get into that top eight for playoff contention. Every game is important with Over time points.
