Another night of Ranger hockey and another night of Marian Gaborik putting points up on the board. Just 1:16 into the hockey game Gaborik's quick release made the back of the net to give the Rangers a quick 1-0 lead.
Alexander Ovechkin making his first game back from injury looked like he didn't miss a beat. Skating hard delivering blows and all though he only had one shot on goal he made that one shot count as he put it home on the power play to even the score at one.
The Caps would turn up the play from the end of the first and all the way through the second out shooting the Rangers 21 to 11 after two periods of play. Capitals were also able to grab a 2-1 edge after two scoring on a another power play goal as B. Laich jumped on a loose puck in front of the Ranger goal and banged it home.
The Rangers would get some chances in the third and this lead to some power play opportunities. M. Gaborik would do it again to tie the score from a sharp angle he was able to hit mesh and even the score at two. The Rangers would pick up their play from there and soon the Caps would swing the momentum back in their favor. Rangers couldn't keep the puck in the Caps zone and a race for a loose puck lead to a partial break for Washington's M. Bradley and he was able to bury one over Lundqvist shoulder for the game winner. Capitals would also add an empty net goal and leave the Garden with a 4-2 win.
