A Call for Confidence!

Higgins Saves a New York Debacle!

After leading 2-0 deep into the third period of play the Rangers managed to squander their two goal lead with less than five minutes to play. But Christopher Higgins who hasn't scored a goal on home ice all season long managed to drive to the net from the side and squeeze one through for a 3-2 Rangers lead with 1:29 left in the contest that proved to be the game winner.

Rangers goal scorers last night (1/4/10) Ales Kotlik, Erik Christensen and Christopher Higgins. Wait! Marain Gaborik didn't get a goal and the Rangers put up three goals at home? Is this a dream? Somebody pinch me! Or was this finally bound to happen?

Try and try again and you will succeed! Higgins who's last game against Carolina was horrible with all the missed chances and who's been working like a horse in practice finally comes on through. Ales Kotlik who hasn't scored a goal in 22 games put the Rangers on the board first in the first on a power play to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. E. Christensen, could this be the guy that will supply the secondary scoring for the Rangers? Picked up off wavier's from the Ducks, Christensen has scored two big goals in the last three games for the blue shirts. Christensen's goal was a beauty that he one handed to his back hand and poked it through the legs of Rask in the second period.

At this point things were looking great for the Rangers as they took a two goal lead into period three. The Bruins would finally break on though the King with only 5:27 remaining on a broken play while they were short handed to make it a one goal game. It's ruff to break a shut out attempt with only 5:27 left and while being short handed. But this goal got the Bruins going and Blake Wheeler who assisted on the previous goal would tie the score only eighty six tics later. And then you can feel it, that this one might slip away. How could this happen? In a game played very well like the pervious game against the Canes was it possible we would only get a point out of this one as well if were lucky to get out of the 4:01 remaining.

Confidence means a lot in Hockey. Higgins went to the net with the puck and scored with 1:29 remaining that won the game. Three guys who's confidence has been shot in the month of December could finally be restored. Kotlik was benched, Higgins couldn't finish and Christensen was waived. But i'm sure all three of these guys will be waking up with a smile in the morning. Confidence, i'll bet one of these guys will do something next game.
